Building a business is tough as hell. It’s all on you.
But building one solo… is a different animal entirely 🙀
So this week I’m bragging about a handful of solo founders who are killing it with their online businesses. I hope you go check them out and give some love to what they’re doing, because a little support goes a long way when you’re building something for humans! 👏

Jay and his 2 million travellers

Jay Raavi wrote nomadtable down in his notes app on a solo trip, because being alone somewhere new shouldn’t have to mean being lonely there.
He built a mobile app that shows you what’s happening nearby so you can join something and actually meet people, instead of scrolling in a hostel bunk.
Two years later it’s at 2 million users and $2 million a year. He has no cofounders, no employees, and he never took a dollar of funding.
He walked away from a $300,000 job to go do this. One guy, one notes-app idea, two million travellers… I can’t get my head around it.

Marc and his 39 projects that all came together

Marc Lou spent years shipping startups that went nowhere, and kept shipping anyway.
He taught himself to code in 2016, ended up in Bali, and got fired with $20,000 in the bank and no audience. So he started building small things, fast, over and over.
One of them was ShipFast, a starter kit that hands other builders all the boring plumbing so they can launch in days. It’s done $1.2 million.
There are 39 projects on his site now, and the newest one verifies startup revenue so buyers can actually trust the numbers.
The thing that finally worked was the pile of things that didn’t. Go read his ten years in one chart! 📈
Tony and him making pretty things for people
Tony Dinh makes over $1.6 million a year from an app that is, honestly, just a nicer window onto AI models.
Typing Mind is a front end for LLMs. You buy a license once and it’s yours, teams pay monthly, and that’s the whole business.
He builds it from Vietnam, so his costs are low and his life looks pretty great. Maybe he’s out meeting people on nomadtable 👀
He also co-hosts a free month-long house in Da Nang where ten founders live and build together. You just cover your own flights.

Sarah and helping 2.8 million people believe in themselves

Sarah Perl spent five years building an audience before she had an app to give them.
Stella finally landed it in January! Her app plays you personalized audio of the life you’re trying to build, so your head gets used to the idea before the rest of you catches up.
Under two months later she posted that she was about to cross $300,000 a month. 🤯
No ads, no investors. Just 2.8 million people already listening to her on TikTok.
Her own line about it was “don’t let the lashes and tarot cards fool u”, which might be the most self-aware solo-founder sentence I’ve read all year.

Bragging you can do this weekend
Last week’s stories were about people using tech as a shortcut to fix something real.
This week’s are about people who did it with nobody else in the building.
Every one of these four could have waited for a cofounder, or a boss, or somebody’s permission. They just started instead, and then kept going on the days it wasn’t working.
