Hey paw-some humans! Adam here 👋
This is my newsletter where I share cool stuff people do on the internet.
You might remember me from my CatGPT 🐈⬛ project. I created it in a single day to show that people can make fun stuff with AI, and millions of people loved it!! 😻
Remember Inspector Gadget?
If you grew up in the 80s or 90s like me, you probably do 😹 Inspector Gadget was a cartoon detective who had a gadget for EVERYTHING.
Now with cheap little computers, 3D printers and a bit of AI… everyone's building their own gadgets at home.
This week we're bragging about 3 real-life Inspector Gadgets:
- Nathaniel, a former Google employee who built a house-sized robot claw 🦞 to help clean up messes
- Matthew, a software engineer who turned date night debates into a game show machine 🎰
- Xing, a cat dad who spent 4 months building an automated subway for cats 🐈

A former Google engineer who built a HOUSE-sized claw machine so parents can stop picking up after their kids
Ouch!
One survey from ClosetMaid found the average parent picks up after their kid 28 times a week - more than 1,400 pickups a year. That’s a lot of bending over!
Nathaniel Nifong, a dad of 3 and former Google engineer, knew the feeling of picking up after his kids all too well. So he looked up at his ceiling and had the
most engineer-dad idea EVER
.
Arcades have been grabbing stuffed animals with a claw for decades…
So why not SOCKS? 🧦👇
Meet Stringman 🤖
It hangs from four cables in the corners of the room, and uses AI to spot clutter on the floor. Then it swoops down, grabs it, and carries it to a bin! 🧺
Nathaniel… Inspector Gadget would be proud 🕵️👏👏
Bragger, I wanna know:
What chore would YOU happily let a robot do??
Hit reply and tell me!!
Xing Zhilei is a Chinese YouTuber whose cat-sized builds have racked up millions of views. His fans kept begging for one thing: a subway station for the cats.
So he went ALL IN 👇🤯
Over the past 2 years, Xing has built his cats an entire mini city he calls "Cat Town" 🐾🏘️
And Cat Town keeps growing!!
There's now a supermarket, lit-up apartments, grooming salon… and a chinchilla who works as the "customer service advisor" 😂
Go Xing… what a creative way to move cats around the house!! 👏👏👏
A software engineer who built a "Decision-inator" for your dinner, chores, and date nights!
One survey found the average American spends almost 2 hours a WEEK just deciding what to eat. That’s about 4 full days a year!! 🤯
Matthew Jones, a software engineer from Virginia, and his wife were stuck in that all-too-common
“what’s for dinner” standoff
. So he did what any nerd king would do.
I need one of these 😹👇
He calls it the Decision-inator (best name ever??) 🎰
Matthew built it with a Raspberry Pi (a microcomputer, not the tasty kind lol 🥧 ) and a laser cutter, inspired by The Price Is Right wheel. Hit the big red button, and the wheel picks dinner. It can also pick chores, date night… and even what to watch for MOVIE NIGHT!!
Now, Matthew's making video games too (which I think is awesome!!). This year he entered a game jam 🎮 with a game called Reality TV Show Producer.
All hail the nerd king… Matthew!! 😂👑👏👏
What about you…
What's a decision your household argues about every single day?
Reply and tell me!!
Maybe somebody reading this will build a machine for it.

Pick of the litter? 🐾
When I was a kid, Inspector Gadget's stuff felt about as real as a flying car 🚗
Today…
a robot claw for your ceiling (like Nathaniel’s) costs less than a new phone
a tiny computer like the one inside Matthew's wheel costs less than $100 bucks
and heck, you can even build an automated cat subway like Xing!
What an amazing time to be a creative thinker! 👨🎨
What about you, bragger?
Which Inspector Gadget gadget are you wanting to build?
Hit reply and tell me!! I promise I’m reading everyone’s replies 🧡
